Snow to Desert
Descending from 17,000ft (5,200m) on Cerro Toco - Chilean Andes. Descent was welcome - the gradual ascent from my drop-off point had nearly finished me twice; once from the sudden lack of oxygen at 5,100m, and secondly from the extreme cold. Taking off gloves to take photos meant I feared for my hands afterwards, and I was still suffering the pain at this point, as the blood slowly warmed them up again. Never have I been so glad to get into a warm car!
